oh what a weekend!

1) i got a visit from dear frank and christine and finally got to meet my goddaughter ava jane (some pics in the mosaic below)!  shes so beautiful and sweet, and it was so much fun to spend time with my best friend after not seeing him for a whole year!

2) i had some brief run ins and phone calls from some ghosts from the past over the past couple of days (i dont really think i want to elaborate since im not too sure who reads this ).  is there a full moon?  a few have come out of the woodwork and it almost makes me not want to leave my house or answer the phone!  very bizarre indeed.

3) late night impromptu guitar hero/DDR gathering last night (also, pics below).  much fun.  for as long as i live, there will never ever be anything more amusing to me than watching seth get down to kelly clarkson’s “since u been gone”.

4) cleaning and unpacking at tony and laurens new house today was so much fun.  vegan brownies, coffee, cats, jawbreaker on the stereo,  and their crazy hilarious neighbors made it  worth the hard work!

and as for now, i have to pack up orders, pay some bills, take a shower and relax…and hope that tomorrow will be one more day of vacation.

i lost all my money at the cock fights…

well not actually at the cock fights (im listening to minus the bear, can you tell?), but in atlantic city.  never again will i go to that disgusting place.  it was so depressing.  not because i gambled away so much money, but just seeing all of these sad people sitting on slot machines feeding them their savings just trying to win a little more.  i saw a man collapse onto the floor while playing craps.  the people around the table paid him no attention and just kept on playing.   it was all just really sad.

ok, enough with that.  its been so hot and gross outside for the past few days that i havent done much except for sit in the air conditioning and spin yarn.  i just did a HUGE update to my shop and i feel good about building up some inventory.

oh my gosh!  and i bought this last week from melissa of moustache rides yarn last week, and it was waiting for me when i got home yesterday (along with a TON of other goodies!  she always spoils me!)

oh, yes indeed…

who just got 6 tickets for the new pornographers in battery park on the fourth of july?  oh yes, thats right……lil’ old me!  only problem is that i have to go to NYC at some point to pick them up next week!  good thing im on vacation…

heat is bringing me down…

its too hot.  i dont do well in the heat.  i want to curl up in the air conditioning all day.  but i have to work. ugh.  whine, whine, whine…  anyway, my new pets are coming today!  i will be taking care of 3 silkworms for the summer!  i have to say, im totally excited about this.  however, in september they will be returned to the kindergarten classroom to which they belong.  hopefully they will make a few cocoons for me to spin while theyre here.

it will be an awesome time, and will help dear lauren and carolynne keep the gallery open!  i donated a painting and a big handspun yarn basket.  go bid on my stuff, and all of the amazing donations theyve received.  i have a feeling that alot of my paycheck this week will be going to silent auction….

sickness

so, im almost over the bronchitis i had last week.  apparently it started out as a sinus infection and then spread to my chest since i didnt go to the doctors soon enough.  i couldnt go to work last week since i could barely lift my head off of my couch.  having no insurance and no working has set me back ALOT in the financial sense.  so if your in the market for some yarn, jewelery, art, and some random other things,  please visit the tiny airplanes shop and buy some great stuff!  to sweeten the deal, im offering free shipping until friday!

and i have a ton of other things to list, but i cannot, for the life of me, find the cord for my camera.  ugh!

oh carl newman, how i love thee…

so for those of you who dont know me, i have a deep love for carl newman. i think of him as my imaginary boyfriend. i am constantly telling people to listen to his solo stuff and zumpano, and the new pornographers are my favorite band ever. i once had a conversation with him about a radio station t-shirt that he was wearing…ok, i can go on and on about him, anyway..the new pornographers have a new album coming out at the end of summer, and the first song they released off of said album is nothing short of amazing. i suggest you all go and listen to it !

i feel like…

…i’m always cleaning.  but not because im a slob, but because i get bored with looking at things and just start arranging and rearranging.  i tore apart my workspace today in hopes to get more organized and start doing some real work again.  i want to have it done by the end of the night so i can take this weekend to stockpile some goods.  that said, its time to get down to business….BUT!  i wanted to share this photo of the amazing hat that heather from girl with a hook made from a yarn that i spun…

it’s so amazing!  actually, all of her stuff amazes me…its all free form and one of a kind!  go look at her shop and marvel at all of the yarn-y goodness!

i am very very sad that you are moving to brooklyn today. i dont know who is going to drink coffee with me every morning and tea with me every night. i know your only moving 2 hours away, but it feels like your going across the country. i will see you very soon, during my vacation, and on the 4th of july for the new pornographers, but my days wont be the same without you. when you need your haircut, you just let me know. you are my frankenberry. i love you to bits and pieces, nikki.

oh! the humanity!!

ive been neglecting this new blog lately, but its been a crrrrazy few weeks to say the least…..

#1…this my best friend frank and his new daughter (my goddaughter!) ava jane!  she was born 3 weeks early, on the day of moms baby shower, actually, and shes just perfect!

 #2…i got swiped by a car while riding my bike last week.  the jerk didnt even stop.  i got slammed into a parked car, and this is what my leg looks like now….

 

 #3…2 days of printing shirts for the lil’ hospital, my dear friend kevins band.  they played the new york pop fest this weekend, so i hope all of you new yorkers went out and bought one of our shirts!
